Radial EBUS

A miniature ultrasound probe passed through the bronchoscope provides precise 360° imaging of peripheral lung lesions for targeted biopsy.

What Is Radial EBUS?

Radial EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound with a radial probe) adds precision targeting to diagnostic bronchoscopy. A miniature ultrasound probe — the RP-EBUS probe — is passed through the working channel of the flexible bronchoscope.

As the probe is advanced, it provides real-time 360° imaging of the surrounding lung tissue, allowing the clinician to precisely locate a target lesion before obtaining a biopsy sample. This is especially valuable for peripheral lung nodules that cannot be seen directly through the bronchoscope.

Common Uses

  • Peripheral lung nodule biopsy
  • Lesions not visible via direct bronchoscopy
  • Guidance adjunct to TBBX
  • Lung cancer evaluation
